He won his first post-Beatles Grammy in 1972 for Best Instrumental Arrangement/ Accompanying Vocalist for “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey.” McCartney received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990 and “Band on the Run” entered the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013. His 2021 book, The Lyrics, told the stories behind 154 of his songs, from Beatles’ classics like “Yesterday” and “Hey Jude” to such solo smashes as “Band on the Run” and “Live and Let Die.”
