The star reminisced with Parade about the day the Hve-time Grammy winner decided that performing was his life’s dream. After being asked to be in a band when he was 15, he realized there were benefits to playing music. “We got hired to play at a church dance,” he recalled. “Everybody’s clapping, kids are dancing and a girl I had a crush on was actually looking at me. I was thrilled. At the end of the night, the priest gives us each $15. I said, ‘You mean we get paid for this?!’ That was it! This is what I’m going to do.”
