CARLOS SANTANA

March 30, 2003

“If I hadn’t come to America, I probably would’ve been dead by now,” Santana told Parade. Once he got a foothold in San Francisco, he formed a band and took off, rocking Woodstock with “Evil Ways” and “Soul Sacrifice.” He went on to blend musical influences and to work with younger stars, such as Lauryn Hill and Chris Stapleton. To date, the 75-year-old has won 10 Grammys.
