Parade caught up with the young Canadian singer-songwriter when she was just 18. Her debut album, Let Go, with its guitar-driven single, “Complicated,” had sold 10 million copies. And she was nominated for fifive Grammys and had signed a big new contract with Arista. “I still write my own songs,” she said. Lavigne has been nominated for eight Grammy awards in total.
