MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE

(FEB. 10 IN THEATERS)

He’s baaack! Channing Tatum reprises his role as Mike Lane with the third and presumed final chapter in the Magic Mike franchise. This time around, Mike returns to the stage after a long absence and a business deal that left him broke and bartending in Florida. But that all changes when a wealthy socialite ( Salma Hayek) lures him to London with an offer he can’t refuse—and an agenda all her own. “These two people meet at a very interesting moment in their lives,” Tatum says. “Mike had taken his furniture company as far as it could go and it folded; Max had been in a marriage and it’s fallen apart. They are both at this crossroads, thinking, Who do I want to be now? What do I do now?” As for the dancing? “Everybody is like, ‘Less character, more dancing.’ So, I’ve listened,” Tatum, 42, said. “This one’s going to be a full dance-icle. We’re going to swing for the fence. I’m going to dance as hard as I’ve danced in any movie other than Hail, Caesar! I want this movie to be filled with joy and fun.” He admitted that his age can’t be ignored: “At 42, it’s a whole different thing than when I was actually dancing at 19,” Tatum laughs. “It’s a full-time job, 100 percent. And the dancers…they’re killers, each and every single one of them can do something that no one else on the planet can do as well; they’re one of a kind.” A scene to watch for: The dance with water: “It really takes your breath away.”
