GAME RECAP

TYLER KING, THE DENVER GAZETTE

What happened: Colorado State’s disappointing season continued with an 88-79 loss to Utah State (19-5, 8-3 MW) on Saturday night in Fort Collins. The Rams (10-14, 2-9) shot over 70% from the field in the second half, but couldn’t stop the 3-point shooting of the Aggies, who came in as the top 3-point shooting team in the country and showed why with a 18-for-39 performance from beyond the arc.

Star of the night: Utah State’s Steven Ashworth proved why he might be the most dangerous shooter in the Mountain West with 26 points on 9-for-19 shooting from the field, including 8-for-17 from deep as he led the way for the Aggies.

Quotable: “It really makes you think about life. We just play a basketball game. To hear all the patients’ stories and what they’ve been through and get to share some experiences with them, it’s a very unique situation that we’ve been blessed to be a part of.” — CSU forward James Moors on the ‘Fight like a Ram’ night.

Up next: The Rams will make the trip down I-25 on Tuesday to face Air Force in their fourth and final game against in-state opponents this season. CSU has yet to beat any of their Centennial State rivals this year, including an 85-74 defeat in overtime against the Falcons last month in Fort Collins.
